Your Dental Exam can be a breeze with sedation dentistry!
Visiting the dentist can be nerve-wracking for patients at all ages. Sedation dentistry is similar to any other type of sedation for medical purpose. Dentists may use sedation to calm nerves, alleviate pain, and help their patients feel at peace before performing oral surgeries or procedures.
Sedation dentistry is usually administered orally. Dentists use nitrous oxide or “happy gas” combined with oxygen to sedate their patients before any dental procedures begin. Patients typically breathe in the happy gas through a mask placed over their nose.
Here at Platinum Dental Care Logan, we are dedicated to providing a comfortable experience for our patients. Let us help restore your confidence in visiting the dentist by calling us today!
What types of sedation dentistry are there?
Happy gas is one of the easiest sedation techniques, but it is not the only option. Oral sedation is a prescribed pill, usually Halcion, that a patient takes before a dental appointment.
Another sedation administration, intravenous (IV) sedation, is especially helpful for invasive surgeries. Most patients feel like they slept through the entire process with IV sedation.
